Fronts you should get a 215/45/17 not 215/40. I prefer the 245/40 especially if you're putting it on the stock 8.5" rear wheel. I currently run 245/40/17 around on 17x9 and will only go back to a 255 if its cheaper or if I get wider wheels like a 17x9.5 or 17x10.

Anyone in need of a 225/45/17 pair? This has the shipping label and Nylon tie wrap around them from Tirerack. I decided to get wheels and need to order another 255 pair. I'll sell at a slightly discounted price.

Need to put tires on my 04 on stock rims. Would I run the original size or is there a suggested alternative size for the stock rims. Street driving mostly but hope to do some AutoX events this year. Appreciate the help!

When the tires go on my ap2v3's, I am putting 225 in the front and 255 in the rear. That's the same size I am running now on my volk wheels.

I checked Tire Rack and the 245/40/17 aren't available till mid March. 215/45/17 are available. Guess ill order them and be patient.

Can anyone recommend an installer in the Cameron Park, CA (near Folsom) area?

Thanks!

225/255 is a popular choice, one I went with... but 225s will bulge on stock wheels, numbing the steering feel a tad.

215/245 is perfectly fine if that's what's available to you.. costs less, better steering feel, less rolling resistance(better mpg). 10mm Bigger tires won't matter in autox until you get a lot more seat time and learn the car.

Ordered the 225/255 sizes after speaking with Jim@tirerack. Tires should be here tomorrow. Had them shipped directly to the local installer so might be able to have them on the car in a few days I did ask Jim about the tire size on the stock rims and he said it would not bulge and no rubbing on a completely stock setup like I have. My car only has 16k miles on it and I'm replacing the original tires, finally.

I'll post once I get them on the car...

Thanks!

What sizing were you deciding between and what were the factors in going with 255? Driving dynamics/balance related?
