I really want to try a set of these out. It's going to be interesting to see which is faster between these, the RE11A that is coming out, and the RS3.

When is the RE11A due? Only problem with the Bridgestone is it's more expensive than just about all the other choices and still doesn't seem to be as fast. You can almost but two full sets of RS3s for the price of the RE11 and on the s2k they are faster in just about every case. I'm talking strictly track. I know the RE11 is a better tire if most of what you do is just street driving.

I believe March or so. The Bridgestone rides better and lasts longer. RS3s are quick, but also wear very quick and the shoulders get worn. I end up with tread still in the middle of the tire, with bald shoulders. The Star Spec was right there in the middle. I also do not like the characteristics of the RS3 in the wet. I do however run the RS3 all the time on my NA and NB miatas as they are the only ties besides the R1R to come in a 225 15inch.

For someone looking for a performance/longevity balance for the dollar, I steer them away from the RS3. From what I've experienced the Star Specs and the RE11s just plain last longer under all conditions. The Z2 is being touted as 1.5% faster than the Z1 - thats 1.5 secs on a 1:40 course. I don't think the RS3 is 1.5 seconds faster than the Z1.

I agree with the comments on the RS3 wear. On my last car I was wearing the shoulders more. They definitely need more camber than the AD08, Z1, RE11. I'll agree the RS3 isn't great in the wet either but for the guys most likely to run these tires a lot of the time they just don't see wet weather. For me personally if it's raining the car stays in the garage. Wet performance is a non factor for me when choosing a tire.

I'm pretty excited to try these new Z2s. They don't look to be as wet weather friendly but I could honestly care less because I don't drive in wet weather. I'm willing the bet the tread blocks are a little more sturdy and that's were some of the extra grip comes from.

Just ordered the Z2's to replace my worn out SS. TireRack estimates delivery on 01/21.

I think I'll be getting these in 245/255. 255's come in next week and 245s are due in March.
Going to run the 245s up front on stock wheels?
Probably, I run 245/275 race rubber on stock wheels.

Woohoo! Another great option that doesn't completely brake the bank for those of use that eat tires on the street!
