Default Dunlop Direzza ZII on Ap1 rims

I wrecked my car and am in the process of repairing it. I think the tires were the main cause of my accident. I bought the car used w/ Continental's on the rear and Michelin's on the front. The rear end never instilled confidence. 13months later it's in the shop. Tire wear is pronounced on the inner parts of both rear tires. Almost bought new tires last November, but I was debating getting 17in rims and held off to ponder what I wanted...and to figure out the whole offset thing. Really wish I had jumped on that...

OK, I read the sticky about staggered tires, and it has my head spinning. I need new tires and am looking at the ZII's. Stock stagger is 7.1" tread in front and 8.5" in the rear. ZII's in 205/55/16F & 225/50/16R are 7.4" in the front and 8.2" in the rear. There is no 235/50 or 245/45 available.

Will I be OK with this setup? Most folks in the ZII thread are getting 17's, so I wasn't sure if the 16's would be OK. I still want to be able to break the rear end loose, but only when I want it to.

Quick follow-up question. I was reading on the forum about getting the rear-end aligned closer to zero toe to help with tire wear. How does this affect the handling?

I'll be getting an alignment once I get new tires on, so I'd like to know what to tell them to shoot for.

i think you should b ok. im running the original starpecs in the 205/225 sizes and the car is fine. i do not know how their staggered compares to the the stock s02's or the new zII's but i didnt notices anything dramatic.

reducing the rear toe is a good ide. im running lower than stock forget the exact spec but did not notice any ill effects on the handeling (if anything the rear felt better) and tire wear is beautiful im actually surprised how even it is with almost -3 camber. although i did flip the tires after about 10k miles to get more life out of them.

Anybody else having trouble getting the Tire Rack Upgrade Garage to work? I select make; Honda. Then it sends me to another page where it says "Next select model", but there is no drop down box and clicking all over the page does nothing. Trying in FF and IE.

I have not had any issues with the web site. Let me know if it continues.
As far as the Dunlop tire goes they will be an excellent handling tire on the car. The least amount of toe in will make the tires last longer. The change will improve handling but make the car a little more tail happy.
If I can help let me know.

Thanks Jim! I ordered the tires last night and put your name as the contact. 205/55/16F & 225/50/16R

Does anybody have any recommendations for exactly what alignment parameters to shoot for all around?

+1 on less rear toe...somewhere like 4mm rear total is perfect for me. You have the right sizing and will love how the car feels.

-1deg front camber, zero front toe
-2deg rear camber, 0.3deg total rear toe (minimum spec or a little less)

This will give all-around good, predictable handling characteristics, good lateral grip, and good tire life. I'm at ~18k on my rear 225/50-16 Hankook RS-3s with basically these alignment settings (a bit less toe at 0.2 degrees total).
