Default Dunlop Direzza Star Specs

Ok so I need new tires in a couple months or so. My car is basically stock and I will DD this in the Spring-Summer-Fall, when weather permits. I will probably put about 8,000 miles on it in a year with maybe 2 days at the track. Spirited driver with no burnouts or tire abuse. To the people who have had these tires what would you guess the mileage I would get out of these?

I forgot to add that if I increase the rear tire size to 255/40R17 would it last a few more miles than a 245/40R17?

I don't think increased size will increase mileage. I've been through 3 sets of Star Specs, I've found that it really depends on road temperature, etc... For spirited summer driving, I'd say you'd probably get ~10-15k out of the rears, and closer to 20 out of the fronts.

Some of it depends on alignment specs too. If you like a little toe in out back, you'll do the rears in faster. I personally like about -3 rear camber with 1/8" total toe-in, so if I'm getting pretty rowdy on the rears in the summertime, I'll have to get them flipped side to side every 5kish miles to maximize life/wear.

For very spirited mountain driving and a few track days, I got 6k miles out of both fronts and rears - 225/255 - both hit the wear bars at the same time - even wear all the way across with -1.8 camber front and -2.8 rear.

Loved them, but the price has gone up a lot on them, so I'm running other tires at the moment.

Yeah, it kinda depends on how you define 'worn out.' I generally will use them past the wear bars a decent bit until I'm into secondary rubber in the middle of the tire. Once that starts showing through I replace mine. I would think it also depends on how long you're keeping them up to temp. For auto-x, I'd think they'll last alot longer cause you're taking short jaunts.

For actual track usage, you'll likely see reduced life.

My rear tires are down to a hair above the wear bars after 7,500 miles of use which included seven track days.

My front tires are probably at 4/32, I don't have a tread depth gauge to measure.

I went ahead and ordered new tires for this summer since I don't like driving mine at the wear bars.
