Down to Three Choices
Hey guys,
I'm looking to replace all my tires. I've narrowed my choices down to the following three:
Bridgestone Potenza RE50A Pole Position
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx
What set is the best max performance tire? Or should I be looking into other tires. I don't want to get the s-02's because of the tread life and its handling ability in the rain. The RE50A and the Sport Maxx have the closest fit compared to the oem rear. The GS-D3 also seems a great tire but the tread width is 7" compared to the 8.5" oem.
Also, I'll be moving to Eugene, Oregon where it often rains and the temperatures can be really col but it rarely snows. Should I just be looking into all seasons?
Thanks!

I have used the Bridgestone RE050 MZ (specific to the S) and the other two on my 04 so they have been in 17".
With that proviso in mind, my personal opinion is that they are all good tires as long as you recognise you asking them to work in an environment they are not ideal for and so you treat them with care when the temperature drops. We don't really get snow (1 day a year) where I live in the UK so I use my tires all year as I have no space for spare wheels. All Seasons are rare in the correct sizes and we don't get the Goodyear F1 All Season which looks ideal for our 'winter' and I would suggest is the best type of tire for your situation.
I found that the Sportmaxx handled the cold relatively better than the F1 but that the F1 handled summer heat better. I ditched the RE050 because they only lasted me 4.5K for a set of rears, about 6.5k out of the F1s and 8.5k from the Sportmaxx.
I run the F1s in 255/40/17 to get closer to the MZ's footprint.
Hopefully someone 16" tires can give you a more valid opinion.
