From what I hear that should be no problem, but I'm not the authority on that. I would imagine it has more to do with your offset on your 18's than tire size.

245/45-18? WAY too tall! You'd want a 245/35-18.

And, personally, I'd go 255/35-18 rears with 225/40-18 fronts. Or 215/40-18 fronts with 245/35-18 rears. Actually, I'd probably prefer 215/40-18 fronts with 255/35-18 rears.
225/40 is going to be visibly taller than 245/35 (big fronts/little rears look).

As mentioned, what widths FIT is going to depend on your wheel offsets. What are they?

I'll be tracking a set of Star Specs tomorrow, 215 F / 255 R. Looking forward to seeing how they do against old RE050's!

Better by an order of manitude. But, still not fully on the bandwagon. The xs is a better tire for initial turn-in.

Turn in, steering feel, blah. Ultimate grip turns quicker lap times.

Indeed, these are quite a bit better! with -1 Camber F and -2 Camber R, car was pretty neutral. I need to work on improving the nut behind the wheel, but I have no complaints of the tires. Gotta see what kind of life I'll get out of them..

I have a set on my STi and I love them. They're by far one of the best tires I've ever run and I've experienced quite a few:

Falken RT-615
Hankook R-S2
Bridgestone RE070
Bridgestone RE01-R
Bridgestone RE11
Falkern FK512

They're certainly not cheap IMO ($225 a piece for 255/35/18 on my STi) but they're less expensive than their Bridgestone counterparts.
