^good to know. I've been wondering the same thing b/c I daily my car and drive a lot. I figure I drive enough that with a tire like the star spec I'll be replacing them twice a year. or at least the years. I run non-staggered so I can at least rotate. I'm definitely going to get them next and see how they work out.
I figured tires are a pretty important part of the car and I don't want to cut corners so I'm just going to suck it up as expense for owning this car.

Just be aware guys: I just replaced my Toyo 255/35/18 rears with these D1starspecs and the dunlops are SIGNIFICANTLY wider for the same size. Just be sure you have a little room to spare if you're going from a different brand to these.
I only replaced the rears and here's my quick review: i now have traction in 2nd gear when I would just smoke the rears before the swap. They're quiet and ride nicely. Very happy.

Star Specs got number 1 in C&D test. RT-615s were seventh!

Could you measure and post the treadwidth for the 255's? I guess I'll do the same for the 245's and 215's.

They did do a great job by identifying that the 615 was liked, and I'm in that camp, for its stiffness and precision. This is why folks like the 02. (Look at the Ax numbers, .1 sec? BFD, what is the statistical confidence interval?)
I have the star spec, it is a great tire, and has great traction. Even at slightly higher pressure than the sidewalls show I should be running, it is not precise, it is all about high slip angle and sliding. I get faster lap times on the star spec, but it doesn't handle as sharply as the 615 (now an old tire), this is why I think the XS is a better tire for my driving style.
Keep in mind I think we are largely talking about feel, as I state above. Some people hate the release on the 615 or thought they got greasy feeling. The old RE-71 (U) racing tire got greasy, the 615 only gets greasy if grossly over driven. The breakaway is so smooth and even I get perfect squeal in an off-camber slide, with smooth recovery. Now in the rain or in the cold, the 0505 is a much better tire.
