different brands front and back?
i wont be getting oem SO2s anymore in the future.. my rears need to be replaced but the front SO2s have at least 20k miles left. is it ok to get 2 new rears (non SO2s) and replace the fronts when they wear out? thx

I think it is OK too, just keep ultra or max performance summer tires back there. I don't think there is a cheaper tire that matches the S02. Many people like the S03's for better wet performance.

I've never mixed tires, but I might give it a try.Let me know your results.
I just replaced my rear S02's,now due to road construction( destruction!),my front align is out and the soft S02's are about shot.
I'm not going to buy new S02's again either. Most of my driving is interstate,so speed and heat eats up the S02.

Yeah... I wouldn't run those Falkens either...
Also, as far as the Azenis goes...
I dont mind putting different brand/types of tires front-to-back but I do like to install tires that are available in both sizes. That way, if for some unexpected reason I need to sell the car, I can purchase the matching set. Mismatched tires isn't too cool on resale value. Its actually looked down upon...
That being said, the Azenis is not available in our rear tire size.

Thanks and I agree about mixing tires.
My plan was to run the front (old) S02's and the new rear S02's and have them wear out about the same time and then get 4 new skins.
But due to local road construction( destruction) the front align is shot and they need replacing.Due to the cost & life of the S02's,I won't be buying them again.
Most of my driving is interstate with many trips from Charlotte to Atlanta,so I need something more durable and rain-worthy than the OEM tire.
The Falken wear is 200,which is close to the S02 140,so they should be compatible and they both should last about 6-10 k.
For racing,I would not mix the ARCA( Hoosier) and the NASCAR (Goodyear),but mixing 2 diff brands for everyday driving should be ok as long as they are on the same axle.
When I do get 4 fresh tires,I'll have a look at the Fuzion and the Yoko AVS.I have the AVS on my StageII Mod 96 GST,and they do fine for it.
Thanks and maybe TireRack will carry the Falken brand in the future.
