Default different brand front/rear tires

OK guys, I'm running 225/35/18 and 255/35/18 toyos right now that need replacement soon.

I want to go wider on the rear 265/35/18, and want to run the new falken azenis out back.

but they don't make 225/35/18's in those tires and the 225/40/18's would rub, i THINK..

so is there 1) any problem with running different brand tires in the front/rear (except for the obvious wear issues since the azenis will wear a lot faster than the toyos and i already wear out the back faster than the fronts as it is)? and 2) did anyone try running a 225//40/18 on the front to see if it would rub? (I don't know my wheel offsets, I inherited the car)

Your car should have 225/40R18 on the front anyway. What you have now is not a good fit. I would go with the 225/40R18 in the front and match the rear. Goint with mismatched tires can cause unpredictable handling when you can least afford it.
If you stay with the 225/35R18 front and go 265/35R18 rear you are also going to have a 1" taller tire on the back of the car. You will throw off the anti lock brakes.
