Decided on tires, but will it work?
Hey yall, I found a good deal on Nexen N3000's and Im thinking about trying them out. The sizes I was going to get for the rears are the 245/45/16 and for the fronts 225/50/16. Ive researched and found that there are some people that are running these sizes and they run fine, but not these tires. BUT my thing is, im lowered on espilir springs. Do you guys think itll rub? I also read some guys run 245/45 and the oem 205/55 fronts. Would that work out, also?
Ive got a trip to make in a few weeks and need tires, sooooo any help/input greatly appreciated.

The tires you're considering are in a lower-performance category than OEM for any S2000, are you willing to give up some grip?
What are your priorities for tires?
Max dry grip? Wet/dry grip? Longevity? Price? Winter (snow/ice/cold) capability required? Track usage?
As for rubbing, you should be fine with the sizes mentioned on OEM wheels. With non-OEM wheels, it will depend on offset.

oh really? no wonder theyre cheap, but 245/245's are so hard to find. My main priorities are pretty much just DD and occasional spirited driving and a autox event here and there, no biggy. Im needing tires asap, and something I could afford at the moment is about 300 for a set of 4.

Price isn't necessarily strictly associated with performance. It's just that most people prefer tires that will last over tires that give maximum grip, so many tires compromise grip for life.
Despite the stickie's insistence, you don't need 245s. The best street tires for the AP1 are only available in 205/55-16 front, 225/50-16 rear.
If you want maximum grip per dollar, it's looking like the Continental ExtremeContact DW is going to be your best bet. $384 from Tire Rack.

kumho xs

oem rubba
or my personal fav right now, toyo RA1 cheaper then those conti's, sick grip, and suprisingly long lasting. i have close to 7k miles on them and fronts are 6-7/32 thread and started at 8/32, and rears are 4-5/32, started at 8/32
side note, at 4/32 thread these tires turn into slicks with two lines drawn in them. i dont drive the car in bad weather so doesnt matter to me, for someont that does, the first three tires are all nice choices.

i run
225-40-18
275-35-18
when i bought two years ago they were 305 each for the rears and around 250ish for the fronts each. prices changed, and they stopped making the 225-40-18
anywho, none of them are as pricey as those conti's.
my next tire will be something similar to the ra1. i love the dry grip, and in the wet full thread they were fantastic too.
