Continental ExtremeContact DWS
I was recommended this tire. I saw the rating on various tire websites and the overall rating is very good. I'm worried because I've seen a couple of very bad reviews and they are really bothering me.
Does anyone have experiences with these tires? They seem very good on wet and snow, but how are they on dry road? They are all-season but it seems to me that they are more focused on wet and snow and perform worse than other all season when it comes to dry. But then I guess the all season ones that perform better on dry do worse on rain and snow. I just hope DWS isn't extremely bad on dry.
Any other really good all season tires you recommend? I've already gone through a set of sumi HTRZ III but for some reason they worn out so quickly for its rating.

First off every tire is going to wear quickly on your car, especially on the rear. The DWS is going to be an all season tire that will get better wear and if you do have cold weather to deal with they are going to be much better in those conditions. If you are not a real aggressive driver they will give you good performance but not great.
If I can help with the tires let me know.

I recently purchased these tires from TireRack. I went from stock MY06 wheels and tires, to slightly heavier wheels and Continental ExtremeContact DWS 225/40ZR18 on the front and Continental ExtremeContact DWS 255/35ZR18, so it is hard to tell what changes were from the size change and what was from the tires. I also read the complaints of soft side walls and flat spotting on the tires. The tires came from TireRack inflated to 36 psi, and I left them at that.
The statement that ALL All Season Tires, are a jack of all trades, master of none, holds true. No all season tire is going to be as good as a dedicated summer tire on dry curves, or as good as a dedicated winter tire on snow.
Driving straight the ride is less ‘go cart like’, in that slight inputs don’t have the car dashing from one side of the lane to the other. Turning response, traction and tracking through corners seems fine.
I have had no issues with flat spotting. This may be because I’m running at 36 psi, running at around 5 psi above door pressure seemed pretty common in the tires reviews, and seems to alleviate most of the soft sidewall issues.
