Continental ExtremeContact DW Tires

After living with these as my daily drivers and auto-x'ers for the last year I can tell you they are a great deal! Hardly any tread wear, excellent rain stability, and I even nabbed 2nd place with my last auto-x that i went to with these tires!!!! First place was .08 seconds faster than me and was running Hoosier A6's. That says a lot for these things!
If you're not going to a road course with these, buy them right away, and buy with confidence!

Mr. White. I doubt the tires cost you 3 to 4 miles per gallon. I am sure it is due to the diameter of the new tires and the previous worn old tires na the new full tread depth tires. The worn tires rack up miles faster than a brand new full tread depth tire does. There is no tire that makes that big of a difference.

No, I meant 3-4 mpg, Jim's logic makes sense, however when I purchased my S I put new tires on it the next day.
Ap1 wheels with BFGoodrich g-force sports I would avg 28mpg and managed 30mpg a few times during all highway trips down south.
I purchased my 17x8 17x9 RPf1's with 215/245 star specs and my mpg dropped to 24/25mpg, was able to attain 28mpg during a trip down south.
I have noticed that the star specs are a heavier tire compared to others, 28lbs for a 245/45/17 if Im not mistaken? Conti's are 22lbs for the same size, do the rotating mass calculation and times that by 4 corners and were talking a noticeable weight difference.

I know this is old but just wanted to add my experience...
I recently bought them to replace the factory Bridgestones after 20k miles, and they seem fantastic for the cost. They're decently grippy, wet-weather is great, and wear for the past 3-4k miles has been good. They also seem quieter than the factory tires, although that doesn't really matter to me.
$300 to replace the rear tires, as opposed to $540 for the Bridgestones -- no regrets. Obviously there are better options for tracking, but for DD I will stick with these.
