I did read your post. He was comparing Max performance tires to Extreme performance, so of course ExtremeContact DW are softer in colder weather, but they are probably as hard as RE050s

ps.I have RE050s and its 40-50 ouside and to me they are not as hard as some other tires I had. Summer tires are not recommended below 40 anyway.....accident waiting to happen. I am switching soon.

That's a pretty strong testament. I think a lot of people haven't tried the PSS because of the price. I'm still kicking around whether or not I want to spend the extra $300 on these over the Conti DW for the 18" Meisters I just bought. They aren't cheap, but what the hell, I've spend quite a bit already.

From personal experience they outgrip UHP A/S tires down to roughly 30F.... Ive driven on but not owned PSS. THe PSS is grippier in the in the dry and are more responsive, but not as good in the wet and don't have as smooth of a ride. I think that for a DD the its preference with me preferring the wet performance, price, and smoother ride of the DW for DD use here in NW florida... If it was a weekend only car, I may go for the PSS, or if I lived in a dry climate.

To be perfectly fair, not many people are going to be testing the performance limits of their car in the wet. Heck, I don't even drive my S2000 when it's wet out.

It's not jut about testing the limits, its the ability to cruise at highway speeds (around here that is up to 85mph) and not worry about hydroplaning, knowing that if you suddenly have to swerve, or an off ramp suddenly tightens up that the car will grip, as well as the ability to stop shorter in the rain.

How is the MPG difference between the Continetals and Dunlops? I noticed a 3/4mpg loss with my star specs, however I also went from a 16in to 17in wheel.
