We work on a lot of M3, GTR and other high power cars which use large wide tires in the 275 - 315 range width wise but wanted to share a project we are doing right now on an s2000.
Never thought we can fit a 10.5" wide wheel with a 285 tire on a stock body s2000 with no fender mods but this one seems to fit quite nicely (In comparison, a 285 is a super wide tire even on an e46 m3)
Left side is a stock Dunlop Star Spec 245 tire while the other one is the 285 tire

If you want a true comparison- compare it to a tire other than a star spec. They run wide, they are closer to a 255 than a 245. I am running a 265 star spec on mine and it looks a decent amount larger so a 285 must be really nice. What offset are you running? +70-75?

I looked into this for the 10" 6ULRs, but the problem has been you can either get a top street tire in 255 or 265, or you can get a 2nd rate tire in 285. I'm not sure you gain enough by going to 285 to make up for having to use a crappier tire. If you're running R comps, you can get 285s, but I've read about people having trouble getting 285 R-comps up to temperature with the S2000's weight and power level.
Give me an RS-3 or Star Spec in 285 and now we're talking!

Well this car has a SOS supercharger setup and can easily break the 245 tires loose so hoping the 285's will give a bit more grip. Hoping to hit 380+ rwhp once we get it back to the tuner. Fronts are 225/40/18's on a 8" rim so very conservative.
