Default Compare Toyo T1-S with Bridgestone Potenza S02

I have put just under 15,000 miles on the original S02's, and it's time to replace the rear tires. I'm trying to decide between just replacing the S02's or changing to the Toyo T1-S. I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with both.

Jim,

Let me break it down for you on a scale from 1-5.

OEM S02 - 225/50/16
Dry weather handling - 5
Sidewall stiffness - 4
wet weather handling - 1
longevity - 2

T1-S - 245/45/16
Dry weather handling - 3
Sidewall stiffness - 2
wet weather handling - 5
longevity - 4

For commute and aggressive street driving...I am extremely pleased with the T1-S.

Unicron got these pretty dead on. The TS-1s are nice tires for the $$$. My rears are coming up due soon and I'll either get the TS-1s again check out the new Kumho's MX. Good luck.

Oops...I meant to write "water displacement" instead of "wet weather handling".

Thanks for the review, cause I was looking for something better in the wet and am looking at T1-S's. I know first hand about the lack of water displacement - those SO2's are scary as heck in standing water in the road. Wet weather handling seems to be just fine, but they hydroplane in the least bit of water, certainly the worst I have ever experienced.

Tire Rack likes the SO3's and there are good reviews on Michelin Pilot Sports. Do either of you, or anyone, have experience with those, especially compared to the T1-S?

Thanks,
john

Check out HopkintonMA's post, he drove my car with the proxes to compare with his S02s. His S02s were worn so it's not a fair comparison but still helps to get an idea since he's a good driver.
