Default CCW Classics 1 piece?

I have started researching new wheels and I am very interested in CCW classics for my s2k. I have seen a number of people that have them for sale but they are almost always 18" and 3-piece. I really like the look of the 1-piece or forged classics but I have never seen a picture of them on an S2K or heard of anyone running them. Is there any reason why they wouldn't fit or be availible for our cars? Is there a reason why people usually get CCWs in 18" instead of 17"?

I really like them but I don't think I would want to go as aggressive as 18". Thanks for your help!

People get 18's because there are better tire sizes available in wider sizes. The widest size that is readily available while retaining stock diameter in 17's is 255/40. In 18's you can get 285/30 or even 295/30.

^That. If you are going to custom order a set of wheels you may as well get wide wheels and there is not great tire choices beyond the 255 for 17's especially when you have a wheel wider than 10 inches. There is nothing aggressive about 18 inch wheels what makes a wheel aggressive is the width and offset.

Thanks for the response guys. It makes sense going 18 for better tire selection but what about the 1-piece vs 2/3-piece CCWs? Any owners of CCW classic 1-piece wheels? Would there be any reason why the 1 piece in the same specs wouldn't work compared to the 3-piece of the same style/spec?

When i order mine it will be 17x9, i do not see the need for 18's but it also depends what you are doing with your car.

Yeah, i was thinking about doing something that would look good but would also be a track-friendly performance upgrade from stock. I also would like to avoid rolling my fenders if possible. I was thinking about going with 17x8+53 with 225 in the front and 17x9+50 with 255 in the rear. The thing is I was leaning toward the 1-piece wheel because they are forged and i really like the way they look. However, I have scoured the CCW threads and have never seen anyone rocking the CCW classic 1-piece and most of the people who have CCWs get the 18s. Now that I know it's because they want wider wheels it kinda makes sense but I don't really need 10" wheels nor am I interested in the "hellaflush" look. I guess I will call up CCW and see what they say regarding the 1 piece and the offsets.

I would go with wider wheels even if you only plan on running a 225, 255 combo to maximize tire performance. 225 has been proven to be faster on a 9" wheel vs a 8" wheel and it's only a minor stretch. You could run a 9" +60 front and 10" +70 rear with no fender work. It would look conservative yet purpose driven at the same time.

Several of the old timers in my local club used to run these and fiske wheels in 225/285 stagger, of course this was the older ap1 cars which really needed this level of stagger to balance the adhesion of the car right. None of them rolled fenders back then. If I recall the wheel specs were 8 +60 up front and 10.5 +72 in the rear. From the outside the wheel package looked only slightly more aggressive then stock, just enough to clear untouched stock fenders all the way around. Most of these guys tracked them.

I ran 225/295 for a wile and I liked it, though it was a little too under steery at slow speed, then made the switch to 255 up front, now I'm back to biased to over steer again, though its better balanced overall. Would be perfect if I ran a big wing, but wont do that on the street and haven't got around to it for my few and far between track days.

sorry, just thought I'd share some useless but somewhat related information on wheel/tire sizing
