Someone made wheels that actually fit this car for a change, nice.

Well, until he gets this vibration thing sorted out, this is still up in the air.

My car shakes at 74-82 mph. It shakes in an ocillating pattern. It is not the wheels. 4 different sets of wheels and tires on my car in the past 1.5 years amd they all do it. The diff has been replaced, cv joints have been inspected, getting ready to rotate the drive shaft 180. Weird thing is my car doesn't do it when the hardtop is on.

well just talked to Vance at tire rack. He says i t doesnt not require rings. He said to go to a balance shop and then have them re balanced and theyll credit me. So I wll check up on that if the tire pressure is ok.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of tires are you running? Could be a manufacturing defect.

well all the tires are at 35psi, one rear is at 33. Steering wheel does nto shake.

The shaking is less dramatic with top down at 75......anywyas I will probably shcedule something with a balance guy next weekend.

so how come the shaking comes at 75-80 and not 35?

how bad is this affecting my accelration? and how long is a normal balance job take?

It all comes down to "resonance" frequency. Yours just happens to be at that speed. This can still be due to the absence of rings when the rims really need them, but if TireRack says you don't need them, I'm not going to say they're wrong.
I doubt it affects the acceleration to any significant degree until it begins to vibrate. No vibration is good for performance. It would take about an hour or less to check and balance for rims/tires.
