car shakes violently starting at 75-80
I bought some new rims and tires, 17 inches for my Ap1 a few weeks agof rom tire rack which came balanced and mounted. Today while speeding up to 75 I get a little shaking and then at 80 my whoel car is shaking like crazy. Do I need an alignment? My car does not veer of crooked really when I take hand off steering wheel.
I mean it shakes so bad that I cant even drive it past 80 scary

Tire rack didnt provide any rings, just checked all the packaging again. The wheels are enkeis and exact same specs and offsets as the stock 17s for ap2s. I used 80 lbs of tq for lugs.

I got my daughter's rims/tires for her Mustang and they weren't boxed either. This is not the problem. They ship fine with the cardboard discs.
The Mustang also had some vibration problems without the rings and even with the rings, there is still some vibration. It is entirely possible that TireRack may have rushed the balancing or that particular model of rim or tire is un-uniform in construction, making them very hard to balance. Although not common, it is also not unheard of.
Is the shaking coming through the steering wheel? If so, then get the fronts re-balanced locally. The shop will be able to tell you if they are "off" by just spinning them up with the existing weights on. If they tell you that they are not balanced, then you'll know you'll need to get them all re-done.

ahh ok I'll call into a tire shop. Would air pressure be a problem? i havent checked them ever....Just assumed they are flled from tirerack. I'll have to check tommorow for steering wheel. The car felt like it was coming apart....everything was shaking...........
so no need for alingment then due to shaking right? only balance.

My comments are based on the fact that you are running the correct tire pressure. NEVER take for granted that they are correct from the shop, especially since TireRack may be at a totally different elevation from you and they may not have set it to the correct pressure for your car anyway. Don't do anything further till you set the tire pressure first thing in the morning and duplicating the driving scenario that created the vibration.
If your car didn't vibrate before the new rims/tires, it's not likey the alignment. It's a pressure issue or balance issue or wheel centering issue.
