Can Stock Rims Be Powdercoated?
I am thinking about buying a set of Honda S2000 stock wheels and having them powder coated. Is this possible? would i run into any problems by doing this? Thanks

Yes, you will be fine. If possible find a company that baked less than 400 degrees. I have know several people (myself included) that have powdercoated wheels with no issue, but I have heard of a few people powdercoating ap2v1s and having them crack. There are replicas of the ap2v1 and there is the possibility those were what we're powdercoated.

I powdercoated my ap1 rims without issue, turned out well.

Too much heat is the only issue. We have had wheels returned to us that were powder coated and they cracked the wheels. They were tested by the wheel mfg. and found they were significantly softer than when they were shipped out.

As long as you take it to a well known powdercoating shop you will be fine. Powdercoating wrong can lead to cracked rims if done wrong. I personally get them professionally painted to avoid any of the risk. Haven't had any problems yet, not really that serious with rock chips either.

thanks for the info, this is just my daily driver so no track worries in the decision. Purely cosmetic. I like the suzuka blue but think it would look much nicer with some black rims. When ever i start looking around i get overwhelmed with price or with too many choices so that is what kinda lead me to the thought of powder coating some stock wheels black. the stock rims look pretty nice.
