Default can i use 17s on my '01 for winter usage?

sup guys..please help! I am currently riding with stock tires/rims but was looking for some winter tires and wheels. Then I had an idea, can i just use some 17" wheels sitting around in my garage and buy some nice blizzak winter tires for them? will it effect my riding at all or grip I get in the winter or roughness? I like the 16"s but this way I can save some money and not have to buy rims..in the summer I wanna switch back to my 16's..please help!?!?

It really depends on what size the 17s are. If they aren't going to fit then it doesn't make any sense. Also the 17" snow tires are more expensive then 16". Most people would probably do the reverse (provided the 17s fit). 16 for winter and 17 for summer.

you don't see too many 40-45 series snow tires. Most are higher profile.

thanks a lot for your help guys..really..but would it really matter snow-use wise? I have 17's that do fit, off my prelude, sitting in my garage.. and if I just picked up some good profile 17 blizzak tires..would that matter? Or am I just better off buying 16" blizzak tires and swapping them with the s0-2's in the winter and vice versa in the summer? thanks again guys

i would want to minimize mounting/dismounting tires and rims....too much trouble. Especially around the beginning of snow season when everyone is lined up at the garages to get their tires mounted.....you can swap rims in your garage.

if you can find 17" blizzaks and you can afford it, go for it....

I would definitely use your 16's in the snow. You can run a higher profile tire, play with the inflation levels more, and you'll have the right offset rims. Are the rims the same size front and rear and the right offset?

I agree with turbo_pwr, 16's with snow tires for the winter and the 17's with a performance tire for the summer.
