Can anyone comment on Michelin Pilot Sports?

By Pilot Sports, I assume you mean Pilot Sport 1. I had these tires on my 99 M3 and they are great tires. Great dry traction with OK wet traction. You will get more mileage out of these than SO-2 or SO-3's.
I just put on a pair of Pilot Sport 2 (PS2) on the back of my S2K. The PS2 is supposed to be a much improved tire over the PS1's. I have not had sufficient time with the PS2's yet to give any solid feedback but from initial impressions, I like them. If you read my post below re PS2 tires, I am currently trying to find out if they are directional or not. From speaking to a Michelin rep, they are Asymetric but NOT directional.(The PS1's are directional)

i just got pilot sports on my car and i can say i will never buy them again. the reason i went with them is because i had heard almost nothing but good things about them but since replacing the stock bridgestones with them it is far easier to break out the rear and the car now has strong understeer where i never even felt understeer with the bridgestones. the pilot sports do have pretty good wet traction but its not enought better than the other sport tires ive had on assorted cars to make these worth the loss in dry traction.

I had them on my GTi.
Best tire I have ever driven on, but then I again, I haven't tried much else in terms of high end performance.
Excellent dry pavement performance and superb wet handling as well. Got some good mileage out of them as well.
Don't EVER get stuck out in the snow with them though
Because they are just WAY too expensive, had to replace em with the Kuhmo 712's. Kuhmo performance is much worse, but saved me a bundle.... It's all about how much you wanna spend. If you have the money, go for it...

Hi there,
I replaced my stock rear tires with these (245/45R16) and although the dry traction is a little bit less, I gained so much more in the wet. For me that was just the thing I was looking for; excellent tire.
The tires' communication is very good, as you can sense sliding start a bit earlier than the stock S02s on the dry (not so sudden). They gave me a very secure feel overall (including very high speeds on German Autobahns) and with extreme pour downs (driving at safe speed of course).
The tires are a bit noisier than S02s though, but they do look great! (The directional, 'old' type 1).
Good luck on your choice,
Siepel
