Caliper Painting Fubar...
My caiper painting experience has not been the cake walk I expected. I have a kit that requires mixing the paint and the hardener. Well, no ratio was given, I winged it and now they don't look bad, but it seems not as uniform as I was expecting.....any suggestions? The paint was hardening really fast. I would only be 1/2 done with the caliper and the paint was already turning to past. SUCKED!

The correct mix is 4 parts paint to 1 part hardner. When mixed properly it self-levels before hardening and looks great.
4 teaspoons of paint and 1 teaspoon of hardener is enough for a light coat on all 4 callipers. I recommend 2 coats.
Good luck.

I tried the G2 system first. It looked like my calipers were coated in red custard. Dissatisfied, I sanded the calipers down and used hi temp (1000 degree) spray paint. It is faster, looks better, and hasn't come off at all.

I haven't used the brush-on type, but I highly recommend 1500 degree temp spray paint. I got some "Aluminum" color at a local auto parts shop (Pep Boys). It was really easy to use, and it looks great. I won't even post pics, because it might make you feel bad.

Here's an update. I used thiner on a brush and smoothed out the lines as best I could. Then repainted the other coats using less hardner (would have been nice for them to tell how much to use). Then clear coated with brush on enamel.I think it came out good, not GREAT but good. But, I put in much more work than I expected. When the time comes to redo them, I'm going powder coated or taking off the caliper. I think in the long run, this would have saved time. I'll post pics soon.

Ater reading Kodokan's post, I just remembered how carried away I initially got with this. I took a Dremel and ground off the castings on ALL calipers and brackets. I took everything off the car. It took me a long time, but I finally got what I wanted.
