Default Budget tires for a budget car?

I am looking to get new 15's tires for an Echo. What's the best bang for buck tires out there?

I need something reliable and relatively better in the rain.

As well, the stock size on those are 175/65/14, is it ok to go for 205/50/15? or even 195/50/15?

thanks in advance!

Look to Walmart or Crappy Tire for "reasonable" economy rubber.

You can go to a 195/50R15 on the car. The best price I have in that size is the Kumho Ecsta 711 at 40.00 each. They will be a lot better handling in wet and dry than the stock tires.
In the stock size the best price I have is the Kumho Power Star 758 at 29.00 each. You can get a better handling tire in the OE size at 38.00 each for the Kumho HP4 716.
If I can help let me know.
