Bridgestone doesn't specifically say on their site. I did a Google search and saw a post about the tires on NASIOC, one user stated "breaking them in", but wasn't more specific.

I would just follow Tire Racks guidelines:

FWIW. I did the 500 mile breakin period om my RE050PP. I was a little skeptical about the need but I garage the car and for the first couple of weeks and the tires were out gassing something with a noticeable smell to it. More than any other tire I have bought. Presumably this was the mold release compound. Got me thinking, though, that these tires may undergo some kind of curing process which is better served by less stress and heat for an inital period.

You really just can't push the car as hard when new because they will be a little slippery till the release compound comes off. After that you are good to go. For the rear tires on a S2K I would think around 300 miles you would be good to go.

So does this mean I shouldn't go to an autoX this weekend on the Hankooks I just bought today? If I do what will happen to the tires?

In my experience with new tires, they'll be a little slippery the first 100 miles or so, after that, you're good to go.
