Default biggest tire for stock rims

I live in an area where there are abundant potholes... I was wondering what would be the biggest tire size available for the stock rims...

If your looking to jack your car up by putting higher profile tires then i think you bought the wrong car.

^ That's uncalled for. He's probably just worried about wasting the rims.

As far as clearance problems, the stock setup shouldn't have any problems moving to the S03 225/55 for the rear, that would add almost 1" diameter or 1/2" more rim protection. But there isn't anything substantially taller for the front without also increasing it's footprint thereby throwing off the balance of the car.

You really need to figure out which tires you want to run or what sizes you want and then see what's available.

Use the Tirerack specs pages to help you figure it out.

TIRERACK TIRES

The only thing to keep in mind is that you should try to increase the front and rear by the same amount and know that your speedometer/odometer will not be correct.

These will fit the rims: Yeehaw!!

You're definitely gonna need some fender modification though!!

You 'could' use 245-50 and 215-55, but I don't think it is necessary for potholes. Used wheels are relatively cheap if you need 'em down the road.

Do you want to go wider or taller? I am not sure what you mean when you say bigger. I would say don't go taller but you can run 225/50R16 front and 245/45R16 rear no problem.
If I can help let me know.

I'm surprised Tirerack doesn't have some web reference that shows tire size & maximum tire width you can fit. It would be great to look up on a chart and see (for example) that on a 7" wide wheel your widest tire would be a 225.

They do have something similar. If you go to the tire spec page, they list the thinnest and widest rim widths a given tire will fit.
