The big bang question
I have a 2005 s2000 with 44k miles
I'm in a hot debate of what tires to buy. I need the fellow help of my s2ki members in this tough decision of mine with a bunch of different variables. I currently have the bridgestone potzena re11a
front - 225-45-17
rear - 255-40-17
I bumped up from the stock sizes to get moar grip.
What I want to buy is the re71r, more grip, less tire life. (oh well, btw more expensive )
But in order for me to buy these right now since the 255 haven't hit production and will be a very long time out, I will need to go back to the stock rear sizes of 245-45-17.
Now for the ultimate question, is this tire worth going from the 255 to 245 for a season and a half, plus daily driving to make the switch? If so, should I keep the 225-45 up front if that's that case? Here are the pricing I am able to receive everything as well.
712.92 re11a (with 255 rear) with tax
assuming I get the deal I want... it will be 782 with tax for the re71r (245 rear)
What should I do guys?

Can you wait until July 10th? TR is out of the RE11As in 255. Where are you finding them?

Do you track? You said "plus daily drive"..... how much is dd and how much is track?
If you don't often track then i'd just run the 245's...
Also, I've noticed that the re71r actual tread width measurement run more narrow than any other Extreme Performance tire...
Dunlop Direzza ZII SS
245/40/17 - 9.2" tread width
255/40/17 - 10" tread width
Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R
245/40/17 - 8.6" tread width
255/40/17 - 9.6" tread width
I opted to run the Direzza's for that reason...

How can that be when they are both 255 cm? Does that go for every tire?
I also just autocross. But while I'm doing it I'm looking for the absolute best I can buy while dd it still.

Every tire is shaped differently. We have started getting the RE71R in. They were actually held up at the port in California from the strike. If I can help let me know.

I ran star specs for years, they just keep getting better. Buy with confidence.

To be honest... each brand has different characteristics. The RE-71R is new and there's no reviews that I've seen on the tire yet. Usually TireRack does a good one comparing other brands in the same category.
I'm running the Direzzas and quite like them... but I've yet to run the RE-71R's to compare.
