Best Wheels and tires for Track Use

All will require fender work, but good options for 255/40 all around with big brake clearance as well if that is a concern.

You mean like a tire with a category and UTQG rating that isn't consistent with its performance compared to the other tires in that same class? Give me a break. If you had a pool of guys that all set best laptimes on extreme summers, and one guy that came in last out of the group, and then decides he is going to run the RE-71 next visit and now gets a 2sec quicker laptime then the rest of the group and says hey they are still "extreme summer/street tires" they had no bearing on my laptime, what do you think that group is thinking? Im not making this shit up or the connotation that these are cheater tires, just saying this exact scenario has played out all across America last year. Of course its not cheating if your in a race class thats accounted for the discrepancy in these tires, which they now have. Didnt start out that way, until they figure out they were "cheater tires" get it? Call them what you like. Never has there been this large of a leap in tire performance compared to the other offerings base on laptimes being placed by them. Maybe if you go back 15 years ago you can find some examples when some of the first "extreme summer type" compounds starting hitting the streets compared to other street tires, but there are some guys saying they are replicating lap times with RE-71 that they typically do with Hoosiers! When i was seeing people posting threads of this I couldn't believe it. Never the less, it is what it is. Congrats to Bridgstone for taking a tire to a whole new level wile dressing it as something else.

If the consequences for losing are that high...then set a spec tire for you and your mates.
Also...weren't you arguing a while back that the 71R wasn't a waste as a daily driven tire? Correct me if I'm wrong here. Now all of a sudden, it doesn't belong on a track either, unless you're cheating.
And...no...this phenomenon of a faster tire doesn't happen every 15 years or something. The original RS3 was a leap from the Z1SS. Yes...I know the original RS3 was a 180TW tire, but a few orgs at the time said something like "200TW...or RS3". I also don't remember anyone calling it a cheater tire.
How does any of that help the OP?
OP...if you plan on showing up to a track day where everyone is running all seasons as part of some gentleman's member measurement agreement, then the 71R is a bad call.
Otherwise, it is probably the fastest one-lap street tire.
If you want race tires, there are lots of other options depending on what you're doing.

I personally wouldnt worry about rolling your fenders. A lot of options out there without having to do that. I run TR C3s +62 and only had to bend my front fender tabs a little.
If I could do it all over again I'd probably have gone with the Kosei K8R (discontinued now): cheap and very light. If money no object and you'll be needing a true competition wheel any volk or advan 17x9 (or 9.5) + 55 or higher would be great for some weight reduction. I guess the question is whether you are looking to really get into competition level stuff or you're just doing HPDEs.

Enkei PF01-SS comes in 17x9 +60 for reasonable $$$
Hafta say again, for track only without worring about "points" for tires, I wouldn't go with a street tire.
On a related note, I tried RE71R on my 550hp FD. They were great on the street, but at the track they seemed to have very good lateral grip but were limited in drive grip. End of day the rears were at the treadwear indicators :O Less than 1000 street miles.
I replaced them with Nitto NT01s, which do a much better job putting the power down at the track even with foot to the floor exiting low-speed 2nd gear turns. They're my "street" tires now.

i think you need to contact dealers to get the 949 racing 6UL's, wedsports SA72R's(~$350 a wheel) are a pretty good choice as well, if you're willing to wait you can also order Forgestar F14's($1350 a set) in whatever width/offset you want.
