best way to ship rims/tires?
hey guys i sold my wheels/tires (18" volks) and have to ship the across the country.
i guessed @ $115 for shipping charges.
im just curious what to do from here. do i have to box them if i ship with fedex/ups, or is there other methods without having to box? (freight shipping?)
any input is good, just looking for a cheap, but reliable way to ship (within my $115 budget).
thanks

This is for tires and wheels.
Cut some card board into circles the size of the wheel and put them on the sides of each wheel. Also put some ciricle shaped cloth like from an old blanket inbetween the spokes side of the wheel and card board. Tape the cardboard to the wheels. The rubber of the tires will be exposed on the bottom but that should be fine. I would wrap them individually and ship them that way. Could be cheaper.

i would just put them in a box with some extra cardboard where the face of the rim is. You should be okay like that. Wrap them individually. Make sure you make the box / cut the box down to a snug fit.

I have bought used wheels twice and they have been shipped in both fashions. I would do the cardboard/cloth circles method. When they were shiping in boxes (each rim/tire in their own box) the faces got scratched more then the cardboard circles method. Because no mather how snug you bet them in the boxes, they will still move and the faces wil have scratches from the cardboard.
I would add that you should wrap the tires with plastic stretch wrap. You can get it from Office/Home Depot.
