Best high-mileage tires for the S2000?
Sounds crazy, I know, but my wife has an '04 S2000 with the stock rims, and she uses it to commute in. No track days, no spirited mountain driving, nothing. She loves the car because it is "sexy" and because of the drop top. So, considering she drives it 50 miles round trip every day, I need to get some tires on it that will last a bit. The rear tires are at the wear bars so it is time to order some new ones. What do you all recommend? Need tires that are still responsive but wear reasonably well. Ultimate grip isn't as important.

Bridgestone RE760? Good grip, 340 threadwear rating.

All-season tires usually have higher treadwear ratings, but of course sacrifice maximum wet and dry grip.
Perusing the Tire Rack survey results for UHP and HP all-season tires, I come up with the Dunlop Sport Signature as a likely best-bet for life while still giving decent responsiveness and performance (we have these on my wife's Mazda3, they feel a LOT more responsive than either the Continental Extreme Contacts we had on it or the OEM Goodyear RS-A's).
Or you might go with UHP Summer tires, which might be a little shorter-lived, but should have better wet/dry grip (and much worse cold/snow/ice grip!).
Looks to me like either the Bridgestone RE760 or the General Exclaim UHP (less $$$) would good bets for longevity in that category. Yokohama S.drive looks good, too.

Tire Rack site is too cool... Here are tires sorted by customer treadwear ranking in the relevant performance categories:
UHP Summer tires ranked by treadwear
UHP all-season ranked by treadwear
HP all-season ranked by treadwear
(treadwear ranking is at the far right)

My Falken 452's are holding up very well, I've run two sets of re50's averaged 9-10k miles, two sets of Azenis averaged 7-9k miles, and my 452 have outlasted both tires with ease (already at 11k and not at the tread indicators).
Other tires that I have run include, Dunlop Direzza 101, Yoko ES100, SP's prada spec 2's, Kumho 711, 712, ASX, Michellin Pilot sports, Goodyear F1's, bridgestone potenza re030, and of host of other tires on various vehicles.

My S-drives did last a long time. I still have the fronts on it after 10k miles and they still have at least 50% tread left. They don't grip as good as the Bridgestones, so I wore through the rears quick just because I liked to break them loose around corners and such.
