Default Is this a bad idea?

I'm looking at my tires and i still have the stock S02s on them and my rear tires are looking like they need to be replaced. My front tires look like they have plenty of tread left in them. I was thinking of just replacing the rears with S03s and use keep using the fronts until they wear down more.

has anybody done this? is this normal or not normal?

just get two s02's for the rear.. by the time they are done your fronts will also need replacement...and then you can pick out a different set of tires...

it's not a wise thing to use different models of tires front/rear...

but aren't the S03s just a replacement of the S02s? they're similar enough no?

do not believe they are replacements for the s02's since the s02's are still available.... from what i know the s03's have better wet traction but on dry pavement the s02's have better grip.. (not much but enough to be noticed)

but when you order the rears make sure you get the proper ones... the ones that came on the s say they are 225, but they are actually 245's... and if you order them on tire rack i believe you'll get sent the wrong ones and get the 225 instead of the 245's...

People have done it by I would match the fronts and then switch to a different tire.
If I can help let me know.

I thought S02s were 225s but they are very "square" so the contact patch is equal to that of a 245 width in a different tire, since it extends to the very edge of the tire.

vtec9 you are correct. If you went to another tire other than the S02 the 245/45R16 would be the best size to go to.
