Default autocross tires

Hello Jim,

I currently run SSR type-C's in 7.5JJ front and 8.5JJ rear but may eventually run CE28N's in 7.5JJ front and 9.0JJ rear.

My VictoRacer's are on their last legs, and I'm running 225/45/17 front 255/40/17 rear. What is the maximum size I can run on my current set-up (could I go 265 rear?) and what is the maximum recommended if I went with the CE28N's. Thanks.

Stephen

SMCCurry, I am looking at a Toyo "Approved
Rim Width Range" guide for tires. The tire that would fit sizes 7.5 is 225/45. The tires that fit sizes 7.5-8.0-9.0 is 235/45-17 & 245/45-17. The test size median was 8.0" for this size tire but it could fit the other sizes. If you go with the CE28N, You can go 265/40 or 275/40 because of the +63 rear offset and 9.0" of the wheel. The chart concurs this info. You may have to roll the fenders. 8.5" wheel stops at 255/40. The larger sizes (265 & 275 ) have a larger overall diameter (25.4 & 25.7 respectively). IMO, for the track, If not 16s, I would go with the Volks for the better offsets. Just my .02!! Hope this helps...Jim?...

Thanks for the info, billyblast. I kind of figured that 255 was the max, but just wanted to be sure. Now I know I need to upgrade to the CE28N's to get more track on the back.
