How you doing Jim? My name is Chris. I am currently looking into getting some winter tires (kind of early i know but want to get a jump on it). I do want to get your recommendation on what you think would be the best set of winter tires for OEM 17" wheels and also the car is lowered on springs about 1.5"-2". I live in the suburbs of NYC and would also do some driving out to Jersey a few times a week. I did read through a few of threads and read about the Bridgestone Blizzaks, the Dunlop Winter Sports. Also, as far as sizing, i was just a little confused with all the different information that's out there. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Hi Chris,
It is never too early. The best thing to do is to go narrower than stock on the tires. You can go with something like 225/45R17 all the way around. You can also go with 16" wheels and tires and they will work better, cost less and be less susceptible to damage.
I do like the Dunlop and Blizzak tires for the car.
If I can help let me know.

Thanks for the quick response. Well I am going with the 17" wheels only because i already have a spare set of those but i had read about the 16" being better. As far as the Blizzak, would the LM-60 be better or the WS-70. Read alot of good things about the WS-60 and would assume the WS-70 just being the newer version of those. Also, just to check, the 225/45/17 wouldn't rub with the 1.5"-2" drop that i have?
Thanks again
Thanks again

The WS70 is the latest version of the WS tires. The new tire is better in the deeper snow and a little more stable handling on dry roads.
If you don't get a lot of snow the LM's would be better.

The set up you mention size wise would be fine. The narrower rear tires will actually give you better traction in the snow. The LM tire is made for enhanced winter snow traction.
