Default AP2 front/rear size choice

I have tried a search but haven't found exactly what I wanted to know:

I recently purchased my 2005. It has stock AP2 wheels and It has Michelin 225/45-17 on the front and Goodyear 245/40-17 on the rear. I am guessing one owner put 225 and 255 on it and the next owner replaced the rears with 245. Anyway, in a month or two they will be ready for replacements (all 4). I am seriously considering Sumitomo HTR Z III's but I am confused as to whether I should go with:

1. Stock: 215 front and 245 rear
2. 215 front 255 rear (as in the CR model)
3. 225 front and 255 rear

There is little price difference between these choices, which is best? Is there much difference?

They are all perfectly fine combinations, any difference will be subtle but I'd opt for #3.

Thanks for your reply.

I was leaning the same way, in fact I thought it was a slam dunk choice. But since the Honda engineers selected the 215 front for the CR model, I wondered if there was a significant reason for that....

Ditto, any of those three options = fine.

BTW, Hankook Ventus V12 K110 looks like it might be a better tire for less $$$.

ZDan, for some reason I had ignored the Hankook V12. I will look into it more. Do you have them?

I just switched from stock specs. to 225/255, and noticed a big difference in steering and acceleration. Steering wheel feels much heavier, and acceleration feels a bit more sluggish. Car does feel more stable/planted though.

I don't have them, but they are rated highly in the Tire Rack survey, and did very well vs. some pretty fantastic tires in a Car and Driver test:

For a bit more $$$, Conti ExtremeContact DW's look to be a great option.

I ran Dunlop Sport Maxx TT's last year, also a fantastic tire that for some reason doesn't appear in Tire Rack when you do a search on tire size.
Also a bit more $$$...

I run Hankook V12s and really like them, did an aggressive group drive this past weekend and really got to test em out a bit. I posted a little writeup in the thread about them

I have the Hankook V12's as well in 225/255 and love them. Can't beat em for the price.
