AP2 05 S2000 Tire Selection Help!

Good info on the brake clearance, sounds like you have some options.
If you wanted 17's: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/116...s2000-fitment/
They even come with really good tires. Front fenders might need minor work, rear would be good to go even with 255.

Man there is so much mis information from the orignal owner and in replies to this thread its overwheling.
My VIN tagged original fender has been through 17x7.5's with 225's. 17X9 +45 and 255's. And now 17x10 +50 with 255's in the last 9 or 10 years.
Don't become overwhelmed and faint just yet.
I have not rolled the lip you are talking about. The car has seen more track days than I can remember. Its low. I have the tabs cut off...that's it.
On the right side of the car, my original fender's tab got caught by the tire and turned the fender inside out. This was with 17x7.5's about 8 years back.
The right side now has a new fender...whose tabs I cut off. I have since crunched this fender from a spin-off. But...it only crunched being pushed onto the tire. I did not pull the lip out.
TBH, its been a long time. I think the lips may have been curled up, to be fair. But not rolled flat...or maybe not even rolled at all. I just felt under there today. Idk. Lip's still there.
The reason I recommended minimal rolling for the OP:
-He has 18x7.5's.
-He's not planning on track time where counter steer turns fenders into bacon and roast beef.
-If he puts a fender on top of a tire on a driveway curb...he'll crunch it before he ever pulls it out.
-Minimal rolling means minimal CHANCE of damage. You might be the best fender roller in the world. But rolling does present more of a CHANCE of issues. Minimal roll...minimal issue.
-I have barely (or not?) rolled my lips. They are certainly not flat. Flat rolling definitely presents the chance for damage.
Your experience may be different than mine. I don't think its overwhelming misinformation, though.
You see i never wanted to turn my lips flat but just have them somewhat curled up... and maybe even curl up the tabs even... so i still have a place to mount the fender lining. I just haven't seen anyone whose has flat lips on their fenders and how they manage to keep their liners intact with the fenders. So if you have any info on that, it'll help! Cuz all the body parts are original on her with pretty low miles, i want to try and retain most if not all the body parts untouched. But like i said if i have to kind of roll my fenders in order to keep my panels rising/crunching off then I'll roll em. Thank you for all the info... i would like to get away with a light roll instead of having them flat. And yea where i live for the time being no tracking. Maybe in a few years when i move outta dakota then ill probably track her couple times a year... we'll see. But yea, thank you v much for your input!

Nate those are pick up only unfortunately. Not bad for the price though... funny thing is i bought the car from maryland about a month ago. If i can get away with a light roll on the fenders with the meatier tires then i'll do that. i just love the looks of my car the way she looks put together, hard to explain but I'm sure you understand. i'll see what my options are once i go on my next vacation. thanks again

so how do you keep them from separating from the fender, since you take out the tabs and roll the fenders. How do they stay in place under highway cruising or even tracking? thats one of my biggest issues cuz i don't want any water/debris to enter behind the liners. And yes the only thing keeping me from the rolling is how will keep the liners at bay. Could you post a pic or two how you keep them inside the fenders? thanks!

The right side of the pic is the front of the car.
There are like...3 related tabs on the top side of the fender. Keep the rear one (kinda in line with the side marker), cut off or roll up the middle one, curl the one nearest to the front bumper up (I did it by hand...like...literally my hand).
You cannot keep the push pin of the front most tab. Curling it up does retain the fender liner anyway. Or use a lower profile push pin.
The liner has been sliced a little. The tire did most of this for me...hence why it looks torn up.
My car is not in shambles...these pics are unflattering.
In case anyone else is going to be overwhelmed by this picture like they just saw their first pair of ankles...I'll repeat that its how I did it. Its worked for me. I kept the lip on the fender.
***edit: right above the "keep" tab, there is another tab that I cut off.
I know. Cutting tabs definitely requires paint touch up. But...I used to just have the tabs rolled up. My tire found it on a spin out. Back then, I was on 17x7.5 +45's, 225's, and about -2.2 degrees of camber. So...eff those tabs. I cut them off. they'll never hurt anyone again.
For a street car with your wheel width...I think you can get away just a mild roll. May not need to cut anything off.

hey thanks B!!! That helps a lot to put things in some perspective! yea mines not a track car for the time being because of my geography. So i'll probably get a light roll and take care of that one tab in the middle that you spoke of (just in case) Thank you very much again!

You can pick up a set of Nexen N Fera Sur 4's in the extreme performance category for ~ $600 (pre tax and shipping) in the 18" 225/255 stagger.
The Hankook R-S3 V2 didn't pop up on my search through tire rack, but I bet you can still get it through a different source. Another budget oriented extreme performance tire.
Or spend a bit more for the AD08R, ZII Star Spec, RE-11 (most well regarded daily driver friendly extreme performance tire), or RE-71R.
On those wheels, 225/255 stagger, though slightly wider wheels would be more ideal.
For autocross and summer I've ran the Dunlop ZII *, and in my opinion they should offer enough grip for 300 whp on the street. If you need even more grip, the RE-71R, which don't last as long.

Also, would it be dangerous to run those tires on those wheels? or would it just be a tight fit?
cheers

I think I'm leaning more towards the RE 11's have been reading some reviews with very good responses - daily and track driving. So let me know if i should consider something else...
Also an fyi, I'm not looking to push my car to its limits. If that helps.
thank you all!
