Default AP1 with AP2V1 and new tyres

Hey all,
I've recently purchased a set of AP2V1 with Pirelli PZero Assymetrics (225/255).
My previous setup was the OEM AP1 wheels with Dunlop Z1 (205/225).

It was a wet day, and it did dry up eventually but still a bit damp. Basically, my tail was all over the show.
I was driving super slow to keep the tail back in the whole time.
Whereas previously with my Z1's, I was purposely trying to kick the tail out in wet days.

HUGE HUGE difference in performance.

I have not yet taken the car for another spin, more or less because I am so disappointed with the PZero's that I want to take them off and sell them as "take off" tyres, as it's what they are.

I have found some RE11's online with about 6mm thread left for a good price, 225/255. Was thinking of putting those on instead of keeping the PZero's.

What are you thoughts on this? Should I try to run in the PZero's in hoping it'll start to grip sometime? Or will it never match the Z1, therefore I'll always be disappointed, and therefore much better for me to get the RE11's, or get the new Z2's?

Thanks all!

Are the pirellis new? It takes some time for a new tire to wear in, usually 500-1000 miles. They have oils and greases in the compound that the first few heat cycles burn off. Even my RS-3s were slipperey the first few times out on them.

Also, depending on what type of P-Zeros, Pirelli makes 5 different compounds, so you're most likely be on a Max performance compound, versus the extreme performance one you were on previously, which will give you less ultimate grip regardless of the extra width you now have.

That said, unless you're tracking the car or autocrossing competitively, you don't really need the extra grip, and all you're doing is wasting money on tires that will wear out faster, and making your life more difficult when it rains. If I didn't need the heat capacity to handle 5-7 days at the racetrack each summer, I'd be on a max performance tire rather than an extreme.

Given that he bought the AP2V1s used (obviously), I'm guessing the tires on them are used as well. The wheels are fine, but the tires on them are a big step down from the Z1. The Pirellis are not going to "break in" and magically get better, so if you're that disappointed I would just go ahead and start looking for new tires now. I'm iffy about buying used tires, but if you're really set on something used, then the RE-11s with 6mm are going to be a lot better than what you currently have.
