Anyone gone from 18" to 17" ?
I'm just curious, but how many of you have ordered up some super-hot 18" rims, only to decide that you'd rather get a set of 17's because they were lighter, looked less big, had rubbing issues, or ______________________(fill in the blank).
Anyone go to 17", and then want 18's?
Just curious...

I have owned 2 S2000's now and have had 19, 18, 17, and 16.
!9 rub. Axis Hagen
18 hit potholes and bend easily. Volk Racing.
17 stock on 2004 ride nice with still some wheel left.
16 stock feel too spongy but give the best touring ride.
anything in the 19 or 18 range and you will have a shitty ride and if you hit
a grooved highway the steering will get really funny by pulling to which ever way the groove wants you to go. Tires and rims get way moire expensive.
Keeping them shiny is a joke since they are soooo thin.
I live in New England and I just can't see getting anything bigger than 17's anymore since this is my daily driver. If this was a once in awhile weekend cruiser than maybe I'd go with 18's for the look but a lot of people think the wheels look too big when you go with 18 or 19's.
Also if you lower the car your going to rub or need to roll the fenders.
Good luck.

I am going to go to 17"s in the summer. I love the look of the 18"s and dont have problems with potholes. I've hit some pretty big ones to. Its the rubbing. The Volks I have do not have the perfect offset. I have rolled fenders, -2 camber, and coilovers. I still rub on occasion. Not cornering, but mostly some small dips in the roads at higher speeds. I've autoX and tracked the car with no problems. 18"s with better offsets have no rubbing problems unless its slammed to the ground.

1. Stock 16's & S0-2's First impressions: just glad to be in a S2000
2. On 18" SSR GT1's & Pirelli, Dunlop, and something else: Rougher ride, but I felt more secure on the wider tires than stock. Had some rubbing issues in the rear with Eibach Pro Springs on big Interstate bumps - no problems AutoXing.
3. Volk 17" CE28N's & Kumho MX's: same ride control as the 18"ers were, but added sidewall made the ride a little softer. Upgraded to Comptech/Konis and Wilwood 4 piston kit, and lowered the car more. The clearance on the Wilwood kit with CE's is - but I've had the car just about slammed with -1 Camber in the front and was rubbing like a champ when on aggressive drives.
4. Back on Stockers with S0-3's currently and hate them! I cannot stand the ride - with all my suspension mods the lessened width (that I am used to) of the stockers has taken away some of my comfort in turning, but the added sidewall makes straights more comfortable.
5. Going back to 18"ers this week (can't wait). Another Volk wheel , and I'm thinking I'm going to have the same issues as Revhi even after I raise the car back up and roll the fenders this weekend. But I'm also going to be running Goodyear F1's and am really excited about that
Down the road I may go back to 17's, but right now I'm in it for the bling
