Any benefit to swapping the front's from side to side when putting on new rear's?

Wow. There seems to be a lot of wild responses here.
First, its your car. Do whatever you feel is best. Nobody really cares.
Second, rotating your fronts will NOT cause negative handling in any way! I've done it four times and have enjoyed the benefit of longer tread wear AND better handling.
Third, don't take this crap so personally! Geeze, we're here to exchange information, not see whose *tire* is the biggest.

Wow...you have 17k on your tires I'll be lucky if i get 15k out of my S02's. These cars have 1/2 of a degree of negative camber in the front. My car has 8,400 miles on it and every time I have driven my car, it has been balls to the walls on isolated twisty country roads. Even though I drive as hard as I do on twisty country roads, my tires still seem to wear on the inside. There is scuffing on the outside as well but the majority of wear is on the inside.
I think it would be a benifit to swap the front tires (left and right front's). As long as they are balanced, they should wear themselves in. If there is any kind of tracking issue, then it would be best to simply replace them as they are probably bald on the inside corners anyhow.
I think it is a good idea and considering doing so myself. The wheels will not be damaged as modern machines do not touch the wheel. It depends on who is using the machine and whether or not they know how to properly use the machine.
Whether you decide to flip the tires on the rim or simply purchase new tires, they still have to be installed. I would go to a reputable service center and find out who the tire installer is. If it is a 17 year old kid on his 2nd or 3rd day on the job, I would say NO DICE. It sounds kinda mean but I have seen newer employee's work on customer cars that were NOT properly trained.
