Default Another --> what tire fits question

After taking forever to figure out what kind of wheel i want, + forever what kind of wheel will fit, + foreverever a staggered set i finally got what i want. But with all the offset and staggered and that won't work this won't work, i'm now really lost.

I'm currently on 18x8 ET 42 235/45/18

I'm getting F 18x8 ET 48 R 18x9.5 ET 48

I wanted to reuse my tires in the front, but i don't know what size to get for the back. I don't think i can reuse my old ones, because the rim is obviously 1.5" wider. So what size do i get to get the same "wheel" size as in front. And can i go with a "slanted" side wall?

Sorry, but i'm lost

Thanks for any input

Your current tires (235/45/18) must fit on the front of your car, right? However, they are nearly 1.5 inches bigger in diameter than OEM. Also, the wheel fitment guide would indicate that your tires should be rubbing. Are they? I'm surprised that they wouldn't, but in any case, if you say they work, then use those on the new front rims since they've got 6 mm more of offset. You should get at least a 255 for the rear to match that width of front. But to match the diameter of those front tires, you'd need to go with 255/40/18.

The recommended tires for those rims would be 215/40/18 front and 245/35/18 (although you could get by with 255/35/18).

Check the wheel fitment guide:

I have no clue what you mean by "slanted sidewall".

I ment when your stretchin the sidewall of the tire. Oh well, as long as i can get some tires on there that fit i don't care.

The front rubs sometimes. on hard bumps or so. But generally they don't rub at all.

So unless if find some money laying around for 4 new tires, i need to get 2 new 255/40/18's

As always your advice is highly appreciated. Good night

A 235 tire would be stretched too much to fit onto a 9.5" rim. It wouldn't make adequate bead contact and it would require quite a bit more tire pressure to equalize the tread contact patch on the ground. One or the other or both will become an obstacle.
