Default Am I rubbing?

I bought a used S2k and twice now I've had problems with mysterious damage to front tires... The fronts are 18" Fikses /w 225 wide S-03s (lowered on Konis and Eibachs). Front passenger tire has some chunks of tread missing with a weird long slice down a lot of tread, driver's side has a similar slice now..

I was under the impression that rubbing generally caused damage to the fender, not the other way around. I'm kinda bummed that I just bought the car and I'm having this issue.

you never mentioned the offset and widths of your wheels so we can't really tell if you're rubbing or not....

If you have that long slice down the tire, you're rubbing. I had the same issue when i'd drop my civic all the way down.

Crap. What's causing that slice? I looked all over the fender well and can't find anything that fits that cut profile. I don't even own the stock suspension, raising it up a little to clear more is going to be difficult... Wonder if I can have the fender rolled out a little more to clear ok

That's got me thinking now. The fender inside seems to be a dull roll and not razor like. maybe put some chalk or somthing on the inside of the fender to see where it would rub.

18x8.5 Fikse FM-10s, +54 offset, 225/30/18 tires..

The damage to the tires is so weird looking and I can't figure out how the fender well could've done it..

Hmm. Did your chunk/slice look anything like this?

If so, i had a similar problem on my Prelude. EXCEPT for my Prelude is stock height and on stock rims and stock sized tires.

No, sorry. The chunks missing on my tires are WAAAAAAAAAAAY bigger. Like, 4-5 BLOCKS of tread missing, then a slice that extends halfway around the tire.

If there is no visible damage to the fender or fender lining, perhaps it is just a crappy tire compound.
