Air Pressure

Air Pressure
Just a reminder for you all to check the air pressure in your tires often. I was driving yesterday and the car was handling differently. I stopped and looked at the tires. They didn't look low. I checked the pressure and the right rear tire was way low. I removed it and discovered a screw stuck in it. Oh well. Again, the tire didn't look low, so don't assume they are up to pressure by checking by sight.

IF you don't check pressures consistenly, then here's another solution: Tire Pressure Monitors.
I found an all mechanical unit that replaces the valve stem cap on your wheel. It has three levels of indication:
-Green. Within 4 psi of rating.
-Yellow. Approx. 4 psi (or more) low.
-Red. More than 10 psi low.
The neat thing about these is that they replace the valve cap and continuously monitor air pressure. They have an o-ring seal, so they don't deflate the tire.
The end of the unit is clear, and is marked with the pressure rating. They're very easy to read with just a quick glance as you walk by your car.
Best part is the price. $12 at a NAPA parts store. They come in 2 psi increments. I"m running 36 psi units on my car, and my tire pressures are 35-36 psi. This way, if my tires get low, the yellow indicator will show at normal tire pressures.
Here's the mfg. info:
