I'm still not sold that a 10" tire is necessary. A wider tire only provides a wider footprint and more tire life at the cost of weight. The friction coefficient of the tire remains and the surface area of the contact patch increases disproportionately to the weight of the vehicle. Most of the faster time attack Subaru STI's ran on 9.5s as opposed to the 10.5's.

i think you will find quickly a 255 a052 or bfg rival or even a re71 on a 9 is not optimal. 9 is just what's used for ease of fitment and for STR b/c of the rules for max rim width and limited fender modifications allowed. the 10inch wide wheel with a 255 is faster.
there are 9.5 wheel options as well if you look at Titan 7 for example.

I mean the 949 wheels come in 17x10 +52 as well. 18lbs. Under $300 a wheel. Pretty hard to beat that. If I was tracking my car regularly it be hard to not run them as the beater track wheels and maybe have a different nicer street set with street tires.

For what it's worth to you, I made a spreadsheet with most of the 17x9 options with at least "reasonable" offsets for us as well as links to the best price I could find. I make no promises it's the "best" place to get them but probably the least expensive.

17x9 s2000 Wheels

The 949 6ULs are the cheapest option up there by almost $400 but I know that some people have complained about the longevity of the wheel with sustained Track and even AutoX use. To be super clear, I do not have 6ULs and I've never seen a set fail but there are several threads about it both on here and Miata forums. So, take that with the appropriately sized grain of salt. Next cheapest are the TSW Nurburgrings in a very friend +63 and the less friendly Wedsport SA-72R in a +42.

A 245 hoosier won't fit the 266mm template on a wheel larger than 9", you'll be stuck with the 225.

10s for the RC1, 9s for Hoho

Maybe I made it confusing by typing it wrong, but I was referring to Time Trials Tuner 4 (SCCA) not NASA TT4. In SCCA Tuner 4 you have to run 200 TW street tires so no concern about hoosiers fitment

Yes I most def looked at Titan7 and their weight is listed.at 16.5lbs I believe. Do I need to cut my rear fenders? I’m planning on using +30mm vented fenders up front and I was hoping to keep the rear of the S2K as clean as possible, I’m less opposed to over fenders than an aggressive roll. The T7 website only shows examples with over fendered S2Ks

Both wheels Titan offers in a 17 come in fairly high offsets. +51 or +57 which definitely does not require over fenders. Just a fender roll.

I'm leaning towards the Titan7's TS5's or RS10's at the moment for their ability to fit tires properly and their high offset. Thanks guys.
It's a shame there are less 17" options than 18"... Advan GT's are still my favorite rims. Hah.
