Default Advice needed on rear tire upsize

Hi, guys:

I need advice on the following topic, any input or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My 05 S2000 rear tire need replacement in next few months. I'm trying to decide whether to stay with the OEM size (245/40/17) or upsize to 255/40/17 with the OEM rear rims for better looks and grip. I have checked with the tire calculator section which shows the diameter is well within the suggested range by upsizing to 255/40/17.

Any stories or suggestions?

Since your '05 does not have VSA you should not have any problem with upsizing one size other than the higher tire cost and slight weight added.

Even on my '06 with VSA I get no problems with 255/40/17 rears.

thanks a lot, guys.

Most likely I will put on 255/40/17 instead of 245/40/17 on the rear.

If you maintain the stock front size you will increase the understeer.

If going to the Eeagle F1 tires instead of OEM, given the narrower actual rear contact patch, would it be advisable to go to 255/40/17?

It would NOT be advisable to mix brands!
