About to purchase tires...ZII or RE-11A
#21
I will be going to the RE-11A after using the RE-11. The RE-11 has been an incredible tire for my use so can't wait to see how the RE-11A compares. This will be on a stock AP2 using 225/255 sizes.
I drove another AP2 (full CR setup) with ZIIs back to back with my own AP2 with RE-11s, the ZII gives a little more audible feedback at the limit, but overall they both provide similar levels of grip. The RE-11 is amazing in the full wet, I have probably done more than 200+ miles of spiriting driving with the RE-11 in the pouring rain.
Can't really go wrong with either.

My initital drive with the RE11A was not very positive. They feel very soft but I have yet to push the car. The steering feel is noticeably different as well. Im hoping its just until they break in.

After my second drive and getting a little more acquainted these have A LOT more grip than my previous tires. (595RSR) Will update after Sunday with track impressions. Pretty hopeful for now.

We need an update? Did you run them this past weekend? Or are you talking about the Buttonwillow event coming up this Sunday 4/14?

My 3rd day with brand new RE-11A, at first they felt too soft... I went for a 250mile drive and then.. WOW...
I had RE-11 before, I can feel the different in tight cornering when I was expecting the car to drift... but it didnt, instead it felt like the back tire pivoted and stuck to ground..
this is a curve close to my place i always take drift the back at a certain speed, I know exactly when the Re-11 would go loose... RE-11A to me are better. (I believe they changed the compound).
What size tires on what size wheels? What cold pressures are you using?

The compound is different for sure. And this is good to hear. Mine are nowhere near the 250 mile mark and already gripper than my previous set of wheels. I also noticed they did not feel so great on the first drive. Im really excited now.

My HTR Z3's actually lasted me about 40k miles but I don't track or anything. I just daily to school and stuff. Wear bars didn't show either when I replaced the tires.

I have taked to one of the guys here who has driven both of them and he thinks that the ZII is going to be the better handling tire in the dry. The RE11A I think will be better in the wet and better ride quality including noise. We will be testing all of the new Extreme Performance tires sometime in May.
If I can help let me know.
If I can help let me know.
IMO, they are better than Z1 ss and AD08 and ive seen many reviews stating ey have better grip than the re-11. Would love to know how they compare to ad08r, re11a, z2 and rival.

I understand you guys have been using these in a 265/35/18 on an 18x10.5, right? How much does your S2000 weigh?
