Rubbing depends on the offset. I think you'll want something like 55 for the offset.

This is from the wheel offset calculator:

Your new wheel will have the following chracteristics:
The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 11mm MORE
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 23mm

http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

So its still going to stick out quite a bit. However I have 17x8 45 offset in the rear of my S2000 and even though it sticks out a lot it doesn't rub. I'm not lowered though and if I was and I went over a bump it would probably rub. (oh and I'm using a 245/40/R17 tire)

So if you really want the wheels you can use them, but you would be better off if you could get a higher offset on the wheels.

shukriya

I'm running same wheel with 1 little finger gap all around.(bilstein PSS)
front is 225/45/17
Rear is 245/40/17.(S-03..but S-03 tends to run wider than others)
Front only rubs minor when I go over big bumps. you should go with 215/45/17 front with this offset.
I'm getting 215/45/17 next time I'm getting tires.

For rear, it almost never rubs. it ONLY ONLY rubs very slightly when I have FULLY loaded car and goin into huge bump too fast. so I wont worry about it.

if you go with 245/45/17, more likely it will rub due to taller sidewall.
So stick with 245/40/17.
