Default 7" or 8" front with 9" rear 17's

I'm considering 17" wheels for an '01 S2K. The rears are 17X9 with +62. The fronts come either 17X7 or 17X8. Both of these have a +48 offset. Will either or both of the fronts fit? What is the optimal staggered set-up if both fronts will fit? Also, what size tires should I be considering with this set-up. Thanks.

Go with the 8" width for the front..............Tire Size = 215/45/17. you won't have any problems.

Rear tire = 255/40/17......also no problems / good choice for the offsets you listed.

The pic shows (Berlina Black "S") ASA wheels - 17x8 front +49.........17x9 rear +63.................stock ride height......at the time of photo. With the ire sizes that are mentioned above.

Note: The car was lowered approx 1.3" a couple of months after the photo.......no rubbing issues even under loaded hard driving conditions.

Thanks Batbite,
That's the exact wheel I was looking at! What if I went with the 7" front and 9"rear? Would that lessen the tendency for oversteer? Or is the 8" front the optimum handling combo?

Go with the 8" front.............No Doubt...!!

Make sure to get the tire sizes that I listed..........DO NOT get talked into a 225 tire width for the front.......

215/45/17 - front
255/40/17 - rear

Perfect fit for the wheels............

7" front and 9" rear will be too much understeer and you will plow through your turns.

The Kuhmo MX is the tire that is shown in the pic I posted to this thread. I ran that exact tire for over a year.

I have since switched to the Potenza S0-3......I like it a bit better. Seems quieter, handles better in wet conditions, and I have noticed less tram-lining when driving on freeways with deep ruts.

But the S0-3 is more expensive...........Kuhmo is a good choice if you are on a budget.
