Default +40mm fenders and 17x10 + 18

Hi all, just curious...If using fenders that are +40mm, could I fit a 17x10 +18 with a 255/40/17? I think it would be super close, just wondered if anyone else had insight. I believe a 17x9 +60 with a 255 can technically fit under stock unrolled fenders, and this offset would be 42mm lower than that.

42mm lower offset, but 12.5mm on top of that since it’s a 10" and not a 9". You have to factor in rim width with offset, not just offset. Regardless, it should still be able to fit real close, with a decent aggressive alignment. Any fender lip shaving you can do to give yourself some added room over the 40mm would probably be a good idea. The 255 is going to sit slightly stretched on the 10" rim so that that will help you out in fitment room.

Yea, I know the edge of the wheel would technically be out more than 42mm but as you said there would be some stretch to the tire as well.

using this calculator
http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel...ulator#Results
with 9 +60 as a base going to 10 +18 it says:

Inner clearance will be 29mm MORE

but

Outer position will EXTEND an extra 55mm

which is 60-18 + 12.5 =54.5

It's going to be real close. Just remember that your 17x10+18 will stock out 54-55mm more than a 17x9+63. You should run a higher offset rim so you can run some 275 or wider tires instead of the stretch tire thing.

17x10 +22 ASM rep rear overfenders which are +25mm and widened fronts probably about 35-40mm. car is lower now but the rear still fits with no issue, waiting on the circuit garage fronts. but it should work just will be close as everyone mentioned. you may need a decent amount of camber.

Thanks guys for the responses, and thanks for the picture. It definitely looks tight. I would think the +40mm rear and +50mm front would be more ideal for them.

I know it's slightly stretched but I've read a lot of stuff that says a 255 on the 10" is better than a 255 on a 9" The wheels are like 17 lbs each too, and cheap.

255 is a better performer on a 10". It’s an ideal fitment really. The section width of the tire is maximized for the most rubber on the ground, and the sidewall is relieved of most of its flex/deflection for the most responsive handling. You do not want to go less then a 255 on a 10" though. You’re exceeding function at that point.
