275/40/17 on 17x8.5?...JIM will this fit?
I was checking out Tire Rack and some of the 275/40/17 tires (Dunlop, some Goodyear, and a couple of others) has the range of wheel width as "8.5-11". However, most of the other brands state the wheel width range as "9-11". I assume these ranges were taken straight from the manu's catalogs.
Does this mean that any 275/40/17 will fit onto a 17x8.5?
Or, will only the brands/models that specifically state 8.5" fit on an 8.5" wheel?
I'd really like to run the Kuhmo MX in 275/40/17 on my 17x8.5, but it's range starts at 9". Can I do this?
Thanks.

Thanks PikeStyle. I don't mind if they bubble, but I'd like the additional tire width in the rear.
Jim, or anyone else, can you confirm if the 275/40/17 will fit an 8.5 wheel? Dunlops and a few others fit, will the Kumho? Thanks!
