Default 25mm+ spacers unsafe?

I've been thinking about some rear overfenders but don't have funds for new wheels, so I was planning on using a spacer on my current wheels in the range of 25mm to 35mm. But someone recently told me it's unsafe to run such large spacers. Anyone running thick spacers for a while here? If so, any problems? Do you run spacers just for street or track/autox also?
Thanks.

Ive put a lot of miles on them in the past, Ive never had problems. I wouldn't have any qualms about running them again if I needed. Just be sure and get good quality ones in that size since you will be utilizing studs. Hub centric in the rear is strongly advised, up front doesn't matter as much since they aren't the drive wheels.

This would only be the rear. I actually have 10mm front spacers now to clear BBK. For the rear, depending on how flush I want to run and how much I would shave off the overfender, I'd run between 25 and 35mm. I was looking at the Ichiba V2 spacers with the built in studs. They seem popular but don't know if they're considered good quality. They are hub centric though so a plus.

I was also looking st the Wheelflip 25mm spacers, also hubcentric and CONSIDERABLY cheaper. But are they good quality?

You have studs on that 10mm spacer up front? If not your running a very risky combo there. You cant get enough turns on the lug nut to make it safe. You really should go no more then 5mm without studs. 6 FULL 360 degree turns minimum should be had on the studs to bite down far enough not to blow off/strip your lugs on the road.

No. I pressed in extended studs in front to account for the added length.

Whats your thoughts on the Ichiba V2 and Wheelflip spacers?

Thanks.

If the spacer has the built in studs they are fine. If they don't you need extended studs. Its not much different than running a lower offset wheel.
