8" rim width isn't approved for a 255/40/17 tire. It will bubble in the center and be prone to wearing prematurely. We've had customers insist on using this tire size on an 8" wheel, and it has resulted in prematurely worn (and in the worst case blown out) tires.

eh, idk im not expert but my buddies run like 305+ on like 7" wide wheels on their f250's and have had no problems

I'd be running a 245 tire on it for street and a 255 tire for track days so I dont really care much about tires wearing out prematurely since they already will wear out fast at the track... Only concern I have is, if it'll fit without any major clearance/rubbing issues. thank you all for your inputs
