245/50/16 Yokohama AVS ES100 any good?
my 225/50/16 stock SO2 tires in the rear are pretty worn, they are starting to look like R-Compounds.... lol
anyway, i need a good tire, that has good dry traction, same width as stock tire and will last me until i get rims in the summer, while not costing me much more than 100 bucks per tire, since i will only use them a few months...
do the 245/50/16 avs es100 tires perform well?
ill still be using 205/55/16 so2 tires in the front until summer time
i cant find many tire options for the rear for 16" stock wheels and i dont want a 225 width that will be smaller than the stock width

The AVS ES 100s will offer less grip than the S02. If you run S02s in the front and AVS ES 100s in the rear, you will have more oversteer than stock. I would recommend spending an extra $200 and getting S02s. When you end up buying your wheels, you can probably sell the stock ones for more if the tires match.

rt615, kumho mx, spt, goodyear F1, KDW, bridgestone re50, so2 are much much much better choice than es100.
they came out very long time ago and they are never the best valve/grip in it's class.

Fuzion ZRi is what I got... I used them at my last track day event and they were nice even with the 225 sizing. I got the 245's this time and they feel really nice, can't wait to test them out

es100's are a very good tire and it isnt fair to compare them to an rt615 or a t1r. the es100's will last much longer from my experience but it definatly doesnt grip as good, but its acceptable. mine have always had very good wet and snow performance as well

They are no good. I ran them and hated them. Pick up a set of Hankook RS2 (Z212) and they are cheaper and grip better (especially on the track), with similar performance to the falken RT615, and they don't grease as easily as the rt615's do on the track.

ES100 is a good 'summer' tire if you expect to see rain. Better at expelling water than the RS2 or Mx ... but not the same grip level. Probably a little better wear also (280aaa). Still one of my favorites for daily driving and occasional AutoX.
I've seen them cheaper than RS2's also (www.discounttiredirect.com). My luck i've just been overpaying.

i went through a set of es100 in the back in 16k miles, is that normal? I do a lot of highway miles. Got it back in Sept 06 and now the middle of the tires are pretty worn.
I went with stock tire size but next time I am going to go with 245/45/16 or 245/50/16.
